Children's Poetry
Competition

The Rules
The theme for National Poetry Day 2008 is WORK. Your poem must be about this subject. It can be any sort of work. It might be homework, schoolwork or work you do to help your mum and dad at home. You might prefer to write about the job you want to do in future – computer games designer, vet, nurse or footballer! Or think about any job you have seen adults doing – working at the supermarket, running a circus, building a house. What do you think their working day is like? If your teachers are helping you, they might want to look at our lesson plans on this subject.
You must send your poem with a completed entry form to the address shown on the form. Unfortunately we won’t be able to return the poems so remember to make a copy. And remember to include your address, so that we can contact you if you win!
You must send your poem to reach us before Friday 14th November.
The winners will be named on our website in early December, and their poems will be posted on this website too. We will let the winners know by post – and send them their books!
