Wendy Cope, Radio 4 listeners' number one choice for poet laureate, and the best selling author or such books as 'Making Cocoa for Kingsley Amis', and 'Two Cures for Love', will be hosting afternoon tea, reading from her work, and signing vopies of her books at Wyeside on National Poetry Day.

07/10/09 Healing Words
Healing words is an event celebrating a community arts project where three poets (Graham Hartill, Mike Church and Anita Flowers) have worked with three Blaenau Gwent groups (from Mentro Allan, Ysbyty Tri Chwm and Hafal) and three artists (Kate Raggett, Tessa Waite and Tim Rossiter) to produce an exhibition of poster poems. The event will take place in the Outpatients Reception area at 7.30pm and will include readings, music and refreshments. The project is supported by Head for Arts, GARTH, the Academi and Arts Alive.

Parthian and Academi host a book tour featuring two new poetry books: Singing Bass by Landeg White, a book of versatile, sensuous, cosmopolitan poems, and Being the Famous Ones by Jeni Williams, a collection deeply interested in people- their stories, voices and conversations. The Highlight of this exclusive four date tour will be on National Poetry Day in Carmarthen where the poets will be joined in performance by local students.
