07/10/09 Albert Poets - a free reading
Celebrate national poetry day at the Albert in Huddersfield, in the company of our three pedigree readers: David Borrott David Borrott lives in Ribchester, Lancashire with his partner and their two sons. He is currently studying for an MA in Poetry at Manchester Metropolitan University. His poetry has appeared in various magazines and in an internet anthology by Flax Books, the publishing arm of the Lancaster Litfest. He is a member of Clitheroe Writing Group and the Pennine Lancashire Poetry Stanza. Mike Di Placido Mike’s pamphlet, published by The Poetry Business, is called Theatre of Dreams which you may recognize as the fans monicker for Old Trafford. In what now seems to be some previous existence, Mike had a trial period with United. The title sequence recalls interactions with Sir Matt Busby, Denis Law, Nobby Stiles and the great Georgie Best. I'm hoping that the sequence may act as a hook for the multitude of United fans worlwide who will dig deep and make us all obscenely wealthy! Well, we live in hope! Robert Powell Robert Powell was born and brought up in Ottawa, Canada, and has lived for many years in the UK – in Wales, Scotland, and England. He has worked in the fields of journalism, the arts, photography and the built environment. From 1986-9 he was Director of Still Gallery, Edinburgh, and from 1989-97 worked for the Canada Council for the Arts. He is currently Executive Director of Beam, a regional architecture, arts and education centres based in Wakefield, Yorkshire. His poems and short stories have been published in literary magazines in the UK and Canada.
