07/10/09 ONE VOICE FOR NATIONAL POETRY DAY
On National Poetry Day hundreds of people, no matter where they are or what they are doing, will be getting up to say the same poem at the same time and you can join us!
It does not matter if you are a shop steward, a business owner or even a railway station gaurd, wherever you are on that day, you can become a poet!
The Theme for National Poetry Day this year is "Heroes and Heroines" and The Word have collectively produced a poem that can be read aloud by all that enter this event. If you would like to create your own poem for this event there will be plenty of chances to do so and along with the main event we will also be highlighting the best poems from this site.
In order for you to become involved in this event we have set up a website, please look up us up, join or register yourself, tell us about you, your group or collective. You can put pictures on this site, web-links and other references to your work. Feel free to introduce yourself as much as possible. Tell us where you expect to be or what kind of things you will be doing on the day of the event. When it comes closer to the time of the event you can set up your performance as a seperate event on this page and invite friends to join you! Whatever you do - cause a stir in the name of unity through poetry!
The time of the collective performance and the poem we will have to read will be released on the below website closer to the time - Remember though, it doesn't matter where you will be on this day, as long as everyone does the same poem at the same time!
So, come on! Get yourself registered on this site, start writing on the theme of Heros and Heroines and tell us about yourselves. Feel free to post any video footage of your own poems on the site but make sure they continue the theme of National Poetry Day. We will be looking at the best entries of video footage and will include them in a short piece of footage that will be produced in celebration of ONE VOICE FOR NATIONAL POETRY DAY.
